Ashley Thanks for your post. I suspect your tin comes from the inter-war years, probably the 1930s, before manufacturers were moved to war work ... unless anyone knows differently. Keep your buttons in it, but look after it! To a collector - £15-20.

I have what I presume to be a small biscuit or sweet tin that has a lovely picture of "The Penguins Patrol" Pip, Squeak and Wilfred accompanied by 4 other characters playing in a band. Squeak is saying (as written on the tin) HULLO EVERYBODY! THIS IS SQUEAK SPEAKING! WE ARE NOW PLAYING-
It belonged to my great grandmother and has been in my mothers possesion till she died in June. It has since I remember and still is a button box. I adore it. It's a little scratched but not dented. Would anyone have any idea of the year? I doubt it's worth much and I'd never sell but would be nice to think it was worth something other than as storage for buttons!

I'm very jealous! This sounds very much like an automobile mascot, intended for the vehicle's bonnet. It obviously dates from the same period as the comic series ran. I'd love to see an image of the piece, if possible, to be sure.
Regards, Chris.

I have just picked up a brass? rabbit figure with W.L.O.G. on the front base and Gugunc Mascot on the rear and Euston on the side. There is a bolt, with washer & nut, out through the base. Would you be able to tell me what its purpose may have been & roughly how old it might be?

Thank you for the information on Pip, Squeak and Wilfred. It is hard to find information on the Doulton china. I have a cereal bowl? which my mother was given in 1936. I don't know much about it and I have never seen another on my antique travels. The mark on the underside is D4 741. Do you know if it is rare? Many thanks
