20 years ago I was writing lots of conference papers on Huguenot silver, and collecting silver from the 1690-1730 era. But even that long ago, I would never EVER have dreamed of owning a de Lamerie.

What I didn&#039;t remember was that De Lamerie’s father was a minor aristocrat and on reaching the Netherlands, became an army officer in the service of William of Orange. Nor did I remember that Platel came from an aristocratic family.

Must get back to more silver art in my blog :) I have an article on Jewish silver scheduled for the 21/4/10.</description>
