Hello Christopher,i collected my Solon vase today and the restorer has done an amazing job, he told me that it was one of his toughest assignment yet, it was worth every penny to have it restored to its former glory.i forgot to mention that it is the colour glaze you mentioned in your article from strawberry to mushroom, which is amazing in its self.

Ian, thanks for your comment. I too am a great fan of pate-sur-pate but cannot claim to own anything so grand as your vase. I do own a Solon vase, but is is smaller and probably one of a pair. It too had been danaged at some stage in its life but I have had it restored and I am very proud of it.

Hello Christopher, my name is Ian and i am a pate sur pate enthusiast, i own a large Louis Solon vase which was entered in the Paris exhibition, it is one of a pair in the crimson glaze and mine is titled Liberty the other one titled Captivity, the vase is under restoration by lyngard of Ravensdale studios, the body is perfect but it was broken at the pedestal and the neck and handles, it is a tough assignment for him and hopefully it will be restored for Christmas, i just thought i would share it with you.
regards ian
