I have two pieces with the tulip pattern on. I have seen the pomegranate pattern many times but not the tulip. Is the tulip rare??

Many thanks for your kind remarks. Not everyone understands Gaudy Welsh and fewer appreciate it. Thankfully as a result, there are still bargains to be had!
Regards

Thank you very much for this interesting and informative article. I took some examples of a large but mixed collection of'gaudy Welsh' tulip design to the Antiques Roadshow recently, and was quite disappointed that the ceramics expert was not at all interested in them. However your sympathetic and detailed account - which I had luckily found before this encounter - had already answered most of my questions about their history, which fitted exactly my family background.
